My name is Mattia Aisemberg-Pham, I’m a composer from Berlin. I studied classical piano (KPA) at the University of the Arts Berlin with Lucas Blondeel, then went on to study composition with Manolis Vlitakis and Tom Rojo Poller, later complementing this with music theory studies led by Ariane Jeßulat. During an Erasmus semester, I expanded my composition studies at the CNSMD Lyon, working with Aurélien Dumont. Through various workshops, I also received guidance from Fabien Lévy, Mauro Lanza, Adriana Alsina Tarrés, and others.

My work is driven by a search for intimate intensity, sensuality, and immediacy. Central to this pursuit are questions of texture, harmony, and form. An essential part of my practice is the development of a personal harmonic language, which has lead me to explore various approaches to microtonality. At the same time, I pay close attention to the materiality, physicality, and corporality of sound, seeking to create rich mixtures of timbres that engage all the senses. Bringing these two interests together – inventing textures that are simultaneously harmonic and noisy, and that move fluidly between these poles – is fundamental to my work.
Even more foundational is a sustained reflection on form. I explore the tension between process and stasis, and my pieces often cultivate a sense of stillness while unfolding in continuous movement. They have been described as monolithic and absorbing, qualities that closely align with my own formal aims.

Alongside music, I have long been interested in other art forms, which has led to collaborations with visual artists and dancers in several recent projects, a practice I continue to pursue.

I have worked with ensembles such as Divertimento Ensemble, Ensemble Recherche or Quatuor Diotima and have been commisioned by various music festivals.
